All The Nominees For The South Africa Music Award

The South Africa Music Awards (SAMA) nomination took place on the 25th of April 2019 at Alberton Civic Center in Johannesburg. This year’s award will also mark the 25th anniversary of the annual celebration. The theme for this year’s celebration will be “25 to Life”. Leading the nomination is DJ Black Coffee with five nominations. However, popular names like Mafikizolo and AKA also made the list in different categories.

The South Africa Music Awards will take place on a yet to be announced day. However, there are speculations the date for the music award will likely be June 1, 2019 at Sun City in Gauteng. Trailing behind DJ Black Coffee are four artists with 4 nominations each. This include Sho Madjozi, Zonke Dikana, Sun-El Musician, and Sjava. In a statement about the 25th anniversary, Nhlanhla Sibisi, the CEO of the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) said,

“Twenty-five to Life is a celebration of the 25 years of SAMA’s existence and the role music played in driving social cohesion. We have lived music since the dawn of time and it has shaped the way we think and feel, and has helped us forge our identity as a nation.”

Altogether, there are 40 categories for the 25th SAMA event. This year, reggae category is standalone unlike previously when it is part of R&B/Soul. There were 750 entries this year. However, only a few made it to the nominee list. The full list of nominees is as follows;
