Garlic Masala Fries
Garlic Masala Fries
Masala Fries are a flavorful twist on traditional French fries, infused with aromatic spices and fresh coriander.
Equipment
- Deep fryer or large pot (for frying)
Ingredients
- 5 potatoes
- 1 tbsp cumin powder
- 1 bunch fresh coriander leaves and stalks
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp ground coriander
- 2 grated tomatoes
- 5 garlic cloves minced
Instructions
Prepare the Potatoes:
- Peel and cut the potatoes into chips.
- Fry the potato chips in hot oil until they are slightly brown and a bit crunchy.
- Drain the fried potato chips on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Prepare the Masala:
- Finely chop the coriander leaves and stalks. Set aside half of the chopped coriander for garnish.
- In a separate pan, heat some oil over medium heat.
- Add half of the chopped coriander leaves and stalks to the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
- Add 1 tablespoon of cumin powder, 1 tablespoon of black pepper, ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and 1 tablespoon of ground coriander to the pan. Stir well to combine.
- Add the grated tomatoes and minced garlic cloves to the pan. Stir to mix all the ingredients.
- Pour in a small amount of hot water to help the masala cook and prevent it from sticking to the pan. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add more water if the mixture becomes too dry.
Combine Fries with Masala
- Add the fried potato chips to the pan with the masala mixture.
- Stir well to ensure the fries are coated with the masala.
- Let the fries cook with the masala for about 2 minutes, allowing them to soak up the flavors.
Final Touch
- Add the remaining chopped coriander leaves to the pan.
- Give everything a good mix to combine the coriander with the fries and masala.
Serve
- Transfer the Masala Fries to a serving dish.
- Enjoy your delicious Masala Fries as a snack or side dish!
Notes
- Adjust Spice Level: Feel free to adjust the cayenne pepper based on your heat preference.
- Serving Suggestions: These Masala Fries are perfect when paired with a dipping sauce like garlic mayo or ketchup for added flavor.
