Description
An exquisite ancient art form mirrors another. This statue, crafted in deep bronze hues with touches of verdant patina, portrays a woman in the serene lotus position, her arms gracefully raised above her head. The Lost Wax Yoga Sculpture embodies both elegance and resilience, serving as a distinct symbol of the strength found in tranquility.
The creation process of this sculpture begins with a beeswax model, which is then enveloped in clay. As the clay solidifies, the wax is melted away, leaving a hollow mold of the figure. Molten bronze is then poured into this cavity. After the bronze solidifies, the clay exterior is shattered, unveiling the bronze figure within. This ancient “lost wax” method has a rich history spanning several centuries and offers vital livelihoods to artisans in Burkina Faso.
