Ghanaian Bozoma Saint John appointed Uber Chief Brand Officer

Africa has got ladies and African ladies have got brains. There is no argument about that. African women have not been shy of mounting the steering as the world drives towards complete gender equality. Over time, African ladies have shown that what they have upstairs exceed just a beautiful hair do. Sparkling brains stationed dutifully behind a sparkling face.

Among these women leaving their feminine prints on a global stage is Ghanaian-born marketing executive Bozoma Saint John. Bozoma has packed her professional baggage off Apple joining Uber, landing a big role.

Uber released the announcement that Bozoma “Boz” Saint John has climbed on board Uber in the mega role of its new Chief Brand Officer. Well, Bozoma has an awesome CV that spreads across intelligence and African beauty. She had previously served in the capacity of Apple’s global head of consumer marketing for Apple Music & iTunes.

 

Bozoma is a known face in the global music industry. She had nailed big projects with brands like Beats by Dre and recorded a mega deal with Beyoncé for Apple. Bozoma shows she has it all upstairs and downstairs, working previously with Pepsi as head of Music and Entertainment Marketing before she joined Beats by Dre in 2014.
Recognizing her intellectual charisma, the CEO of Uber Travis Kalanick acknowledged “Boz has a long track record of successfully creating emotional connections between people and the products they love.”

“Her creativity and deep understanding of consumers will allow us to build the same love and appreciation for Uber’s brand as we’ve built for Uber’s service.”

Tracing down to the biological roots of the energetic “Boz”, Bozoma was given birth to in Ghana but she subsequently migrated to the U.S. at the tender age of 14 along with her father.  She bestows her father as the fountain of inspiration she drinks from. The father who had previously served in the Ghanaian armed forces before pursuing his posy graduate studies to the U.S. There Boz clinched her majors in English from the Wesleyan University.

Quoting Boz on her early education “I couldn’t be blond, I couldn’t be white,” she said about trying to fit in at school as a teenager in Colorado. “At 13, I learned what it meant to walk into a room and not care what everybody thinks of you.”

And our dear Bozoma has deservedly seized global accolades having been named on 2016’s Female Executive of the Year by Billboard. Bozoma has also made appearance on Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People, with the honorable list where she has her name on extending into Ebony Magazine’s 100 Powerful Executives.

Bozoma is not drowning in Americanism either, her identity consciousness has made her flout her African roots about either rocking Ghanaian attires or African music on the big stages. Keep the good ambassadorial work on Boz, you have got a continent behind you!
