Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 small jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 slices whole wheat bread
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 ½ cup dried bread crumbs
  • 1 cup French-fried onions
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp minced fresh ginger root
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp coriander seed
  • 4 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 3 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dipping Sauce:
In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, salt, small jalapeno pepper, and 3 tablespoons chopped parsley. Stir well and set the dipping sauce aside.
  • Prepare the Kabob Mixture:
Soak the whole wheat bread slices in water for 3 minutes. Remove from water and squeeze out the excess moisture. Crumble the soaked bread into a large bowl.
Add eggs, Worcestershire sauce, dried bread crumbs, French-fried onions, garlic, ginger, ground cumin, crushed coriander seed, 4 tablespoons parsley, and large jalapeno pepper. Mix thoroughly.
Add the ground beef to the mixture and work it in with your hands until everything is well combined.
  • Shape the Kabobs:
Roll the mixture into walnut-sized balls and set them aside.
  • Fry the Kabobs:
Heat 3 cups of oil in a large, deep frying pan to about 375°F (190°C).
Fry the meatballs in batches, a few at a time, until they are brown and crispy on the outside, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
To check for doneness, cut one meatball in half to ensure it's cooked through in the center.
  • Drain and Serve:
Remove the kabobs from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain.
Insert a toothpick into each kabob for easy serving and dipping.
Serve hot or cold with the prepared yogurt dipping sauce.

Notes

  • You can substitute the ground beef with ground chicken or turkey for a lighter version.
  • Serve the kabobs with a side of fresh vegetables for a complete meal or appetizer spread.
