Photo credit Mamadou DiabateMalian Artist put off a trip to Mali after his wife convinced him to attend the 52nd Grammys. Just as he planned to leave New York for Los Angeles, a snow storm came in, grounding all flights. Diabate had to drive to Atlanta from New York to catch a flight to Los Angeles in time for the Grammys. Little did he know the prize was his. This was Diabate’s second nomination and his first win in the Best Traditional World Music Album category.
