Mwale’s story works because he moved back and lived the consequences of his own decisions. Most diaspora “development” fails because people want to fund from a distance and control from a distance at the same time. You can’t have both. If you’re not willing to come build trust on the ground, the least you can do is fully trust the people who are already here to lead it.
