 4 lbs stewing lamb or muttoncut into bite-sized pieces
 4 onionssliced
 1 chili pepperfinely chopped, seeded if desired
 6 cups diced raw pumpkin
 1 tsp ground nutmegor pinch
 1 tsp ground cinnamonor pinch
 1 tsp sugar
 1 piece (2-inch size) orange peel
 cup water
