 1 tbsp apricot jam
 1 tsp baking soda
 ½ cup milk
 ¼ cup brown vinegar(e.g. malt or balsamic vinegar)
 1 cup flour sifted
 ¼ tsp salt
For the sauce
 1 cup heavy cream
 ¾ cup sugar
 8 tbsp butter
 ½ cup hot water
