Whether you understand the lyrics or not, “Slowly” by Medard Ngabo aka Meddy is a groovy tune that can make you fall in love. Even if you don’t love his pleasant voice, you will easily be charmed by his handsomeness. Little wonder the song has over 54 million views on YouTube.

To prove that it was not just a coincidence. Ngabo released another song this year called “My Vow”. It currently has over 6 million views on YouTube. There is a simple reason why he triumphs with each release; His songs are meaningful, permeating, and piercing to the soul. What if you were told he did not start as a musician? So, how did Meddy turn his passion into a business? Read on to find out.

A Peek at Medard Jobert Ngoli’s Background

Born on 17th August 1989 as a Rwandan immigrant in Burundi, he did part of his elementary school there before going back to his country to finish schooling. Meddy was born into a family of musicians. His father, Sindayihebura Alphonse was a guitarist. Nevertheless, Meddy was unable to fully enjoy his father’s warmth due to the cold hands of death.

Also, his mother, Cyabukombe Alphonsine, was a die-hard fan of Bob Marley’s Redemption that she would usually ask Meddy to perform like him. Consequently, he started a music group with few boys to play for churches. In 2008 when he was in primary three, he released his first music. Between 2008 and 2010, he honed his talent to became an icon in Rwanda.

Push into stardom

Meddy’s reputation grew really fast that Rwandans in America asked him to perform for them. In 2010, he accepted the American invitation to perform for Rwandans abroad. That changed the entire outlook of Medard Jobert Ngabo towards music.

Consequently, he had to stay back as a producer for seven years. Though it was not so palatable for his home fans, it earned him the skills to launch his career. He did that by collaborating with some African musicians.

He also started “Ni Njyewe Meddy”, a musical concert that enabled Meddy to perform in most countries. This Rwandan star received an award from YouTube for having up to 100,000 subscribers. Apart from that, he was nominated earlier this year for the MTV award.

Medard shook Rwandans when he announced his homecoming at 3:50 pm, August 26, 2017 which he planned as an international concert. He still organizes music concerts in many African countries like Tanzania, Burundi, etc.

A year before Medard returned to Rwanda, he met his girlfriend Mimi Mehfira whom he walked down the aisle on 22nd May 2021 in the United States of America. Apart from being a dedicated musician and a faithful husband, Meddy have a distinct signature when it comes to fashion.

Medard’s Fashion World

Meddy is just as fashionable as he is handsome. Knowing that he is always in the public eye, he makes sure that he looks his best in front of the camera. Here are some of his fashionable looks that has got us talking

Apart from the sweet memories of “My Vow” which this picture brings out, the three-piece suit exudes the aura of civility. The stance which communicated readiness to delve into another blissful state of life. Finally, the bowtie perfected his gentleman look. Bet many of the single female guests will wish they were the one walking beside him down the aisle.

Meddy is mostly in casual wear. However, he was seen here wearing a blazer in a casual way. Medard unveiled his chest to expose both his hairless skin and his chains. Posing for a quick snapshot, he frames an expressionless look that will keep you guessing what is going on in his mind.

It is good to see that different shades of orange can complement each other. Meddy tries to make it simple by wearing plain round-necked sweat wear so that his pendant will dominant the whole thoracic region. Just like a traveler-celebrity, he dresses for both comfort and showoff.

Despite the fact the Meddy has a whooping net worth of 13 million dollars, he is always simple with his fashion choice. With a leathery cap and long sleeve round neck, he steps out like every regular teenager.

Considering that he has over 661,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, it is clear that Meddy could congregate more than a million people to view his “My Vow” just after a day of release.
